Yiannis P. Roubatis was born in Ioannina on July 3rd, 1948. He studied Psychology and Political Science in the USA and holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University.
Yiannis P. Roubatis is a journalist. He worked as a foreign correspondent, political editor and Greek media correspondent in war zones, as well as an analyst on geostrategic issues.
In the past, he served as Special Advisor on Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister, Director of the Prime Minister’s Press Office and on March 1987, he was appointed Government Spokesman, holding his position until June 1988.
From 1994 to 1999, he was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). He served as Vice President of the Parliamentary Group of the European Socialist Party (PES), from 1995 until 1999.
In January 2015, he was appointed Director General of the Greek National Intelligence Service (EYP) by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
